Role Overview

We are looking for a Senior Python Developer to join our engineering team to develop and maintain our learning platform and lead an upcoming Open edX migration and drive our next-generation AI initiatives. This is a hands-on technical role where you will own the migration end to end, from planning through execution, while also driving platform development and integrations.

Key Responsibilities

● Design, build, and deploy AI solutions, intelligent agents, and features utilizing cutting-edge AI frameworks and LLMs (e.g., Gemini, Antigravity) to address team and business requirements. Develop, customize, and maintain LMS and CMS components to adapt to the requirement document.
● Lead the Open edX migration – plan, coordinate, and execute the full migration including version upgrades, data integrity, and zero-downtime deployment
● Ability to understand team and business requirements and design AI solutions to address them
● Build and maintain frontend components using React JS
● Build and maintain RESTful APIs using Django REST Framework
● Manage Redis for caching, session management, and task queuing (Celery)
● Deploy and manage the platform on Kubernetes, including cluster configuration, scaling, and monitoring
● Integrate third-party tools and services including LTI, SSO, and payment systems
● Troubleshoot platform issues and deploy patches and updates
● Maintain CI/CD pipelines and Git workflows
● Collaborate with cross-functional teams and document technical decisions

Required Skills and Experience

● 5 to 8 years of Python development experience
● Strong proficiency in Django, Django REST Framework, ORM, class-based views, middleware, and signals
● Proven experience leading or executing an Open edX migration (version upgrade or infrastructure migration)
● Hands-on experience customizing LMS and CMS components in Open edX
● Proficiency in React JS for frontend development and Open edX MFE customization
● Hands-on experience with Redis for caching, session management, and Celery task queuing
● Hands-on experience deploying and managing applications on Kubernetes
● Working knowledge of MySQL and MongoDB
● Experience with NGINX and Ubuntu/Linux server management
● Familiarity with SCORM/xAPI, LTI, and SSO (OAuth, SAML)
● Experience with Docker, Git, and DevOps practices
● Familiarity with HTML5 and CSS for frontend work
● Proven experience leveraging AI tools and developing production-ready agents or products using LLMs and frameworks such as Gemini and Antigravity

Nice to Have

● Experience with Open edX Tutor-based Kubernetes deployments
● Contributions to the Open edX community via GitHub or forums
● Experience with micro-frontends (MFE) in newer Open edX releases
● Exposure to learning analytics tools and event tracking
