Target Audience

The course is pitched at a beginning business school student. The target audience for the course is diverse: you could be a practising manager, someone who has signed up for a course at college, an entrepreneur who wants to analyse business data, or just someone who wishes to have a deeper understanding of the subject.

Learning Outcome

  • To use spreadsheets to analyse larger datasets
  • To pose pertinent business questions of datasets and to answer them
  • To describe a random variable in probabilistic terms and derive parameters such as mean and variance
  • To draw a simple random sample from a population
  • To model business phenomena with known random variables such as Binomial, Poisson and Normal
  • To simulate variables that follow a prescribed distribution
