Ramya Srinivasan, (Head- MOOCs Programme, IIMBx) was recently awarded ‘Woman of Substance’ at the International Women’s Day Celebration at Garden City University, Bangalore. Here’s to her latest victory!

Ramya was IIMBx’s first team member; she laid the foundation for the country’s first MOOC-based initiative. Over the last two and a half years, she spearheaded initiatives that helped the team evolve from mere MOOC producers to full-fledged digital learning experts. A few of her achievements include:

  • Laying the groundwork: Ramya traveled to edX’s headquarters to understand how best to set up the programme, helped IIMB faculty members become MOOC-owners, and personally recruited every member of the team. Today, the team has produced 29 unique courses in every area of management: Statistics, entrepreneurship, communication, people management, and others.
  • Spreading the word: Ramya set up open-house sessions, stalls at events, outreach programmes, and social media strategies. Her initiatives earned over 7 lakh learners, both from across the country and abroad.
  • Partnering with schools and companies: Via partnerships, IIMB’s MOOCs have been used by companies, executive education programmes, and MBA-preparatory programmes. Ramya spearheaded all of these initiatives and today, we are proud to partner with top colleges, business schools, and corporates across the country.
  • Organizing conferences and workshops: Ramya was key in putting together the Future of Learning Conference, which drew the country’s top dignitaries including TV Mohandas Pai and Nandan Nilekani. She also set up faculty development programmes and MOOC production workshops accessed by learners and corporates from all over India.

Additionally, the IIMBx programme received an award from the former President of India Pranab Mokherjee for contributing to the SWAYAM initiative, set up two MicroMasters Programmes, and introduced blended learning to all faculty members. None of this would have been possible without Ramya’s efficiency and undying commitment to the programme and its work.
